Assembly & setup
keyboard_arrow_downAssembly is quick and easy: a step-by-step guide comes with your rocking chair and takes you through it.
Description
keyboard_arrow_downThe pile registers first. Tight ivory curls run unbroken over the back, the wings and the arms, with no contrast panel to break them. Light catches the loops and drops into small shadows between them, so the surface reads as texture rather than flat white. Under that covering sits a nursing rocking chair built tall through the shoulders, with a separate head cushion strapped across the top rail.
The wings curve forward at shoulder height, closing the seat in and giving the head cushion something to lean against. The arms are wide and padded end to end, set low enough that a forearm lands on them rather than reaching up. Below the shell, a slim black frame drops onto pale wood runners: two long curves carrying the whole weight. The dark legs read as a line, not a mass.
In a real nursery it takes the corner by the window, angled towards the cot rather than square to it. The back is tall enough to lean into at three in the morning, and the runners cross carpet with a low, dull sound instead of a knock. Night feeds are the hours this shape is drawn for.
The colour was settled before anything else. The whole shell is cut from one cloth, with no contrast piping and no darker base underneath. In morning light the curls turn slightly warm, nearer cream than white; under a lamp they go faintly grey in the hollows. Against pale oak the chair sits down quietly; against a wall in clay or sage it stands clear of the background.
A pale looped pile asks for routine rather than rescue. A soft brush through the curls keeps the loops standing and stops the seat flattening where a body sits. Marks are best handled where they land, with a damp cloth worked from the outside inwards rather than wetting a whole panel. The armrests are where hands land, so they show first.
Back height and seat depth are easier to judge with several examples in front of you. The chairs built for night feeds put those proportions side by side, the models paired with a footstool add leg support to the same shape, and the seats on curved runners show how far the category stretches.
Set beside a living-room rocker, the differences are proportional. The back carries past the shoulders instead of stopping under them, so the head has somewhere to go when the chin drops. The arms are broader and padded along their length, at the height a forearm actually falls. The seat is deep, and because the cushion is loose, a shorter sitter can take up some of that depth with a folded blanket.
The chair also answers to what surrounds it. It wants something matt and dark in the room to echo the frame, an iron lamp base or a black pole, because in an all-white scheme the ivory disappears. The runners want clear floor behind them, roughly a hand's span, or the movement stops short against the skirting.
An armchair holds a body still. A nursing rocking chair keeps it moving, and that movement is the one thing a static seat cannot copy. The runners do the work.
Three questions that come up often when a chair is chosen for a nursery.
The motion is the reason parents choose one. Runners give a slow, continuous movement driven from the feet, so the rhythm carries on while both hands stay occupied. Getting up afterwards is a matter of stopping the chair rather than climbing out of a deep static seat.
One term describes proportion, the other describes movement. The first covers seats with a taller back, deeper padded arms and a wide seat made for feeding; the second covers anything that moves, on curved runners or on a glider mechanism hidden in the base. A single chair can be both.
Not required. A stool changes the angle at the knee and takes the weight off the lower leg, which counts for more the taller the sitter. On runners there is a trade-off: the chair moves and the stool does not, so the feet shift slightly with each pass unless it is set close.
Care & cleaning
keyboard_arrow_downCare instructions are on the label attached to each chair. As a general rule, spot-clean with a damp cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners unless the label says otherwise.
On teddy and bouclé fabrics, a soft brush lifts the pile again where you sit.

Materials & finish
The fabric you sit on every evening is the part that ages first. That is where we start: upholstery that keeps its look through daily use, foam dense enough to hold its shape, and a frame that does not creak after a winter.
Everything listed below comes from this chair's own specification, not from a general description.

Ivory is a proper off-white
Warm rather than clinical. It works beautifully with our cream walls and catches the morning light.

Fell asleep in it on day one
That is the highest praise I can give an armchair.

It made the nursery
It finished off the nursery perfectly. Completely silent when rocking, which is everything at 3am.

Weathered really well
It has been outside since spring, through rain and sun, and still looks as good as the day it arrived.
The answers to the questions we are asked most about this model.
Yes — it's a delicately textured lambswool fabric chosen specifically for tactile softness, not a shiny synthetic that looks plush in photos but feels thin in hand.
The high back gives full support to your spine and neck, and the integrated armrests give your arms somewhere natural to rest — designed for exactly those long, still 3am moments.
You've got 14 days to send it back for a refund or exchange — so trying it in your own space is genuinely risk-free.
It's built with a sturdy frame designed for daily use over years, not a single nursery phase — many customers keep it on as their everyday reading chair long after.
That's exactly the idea — its slow, soothing rocking motion is designed for the moments you want to protect: a night feed, a bedtime story, five minutes with a cup of tea before the day starts.
Not at all. Everything you need is in the box, with a clear step-by-step guide to follow — most people have it fully assembled in around 30 minutes.
