The wood is left showing. It runs along the top of each arm, down the front legs and out into the runners, all in the same pale timber, so the upholstery sits inside a frame rather than covering one. How wide is a nursing chair?

Most sit between 60 and 80 cm across, and the arms account for most of the difference. A narrow seat with wide arms takes as much wall as a broad one, so the number worth measuring is the outside edge, not the cushion. Compact models exist around 60 to 65 cm, which is where a tight room usually lands.
